Profesor Jo Carby-Hall z University of Hull w Anglii, profesor prawa od lat współpracujący z polskim środowiskiem naukowym i zarazem Konsul Honorowy Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej oraz p. Lars Kasha z Biura Międzynarodowego Uniwersytetu Hull przebywali z wizytą na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim. W dniu 13 lutego 2015 r. goście odbyli spotkanie m.in. z Prorektorem ds. Nauki prof. dr hab. Grzegorzem Węgrzynem, a także z prof. UG dr hab. Moniką Tomaszewską i dr. Tomaszem Widłakiem z Wydziału Prawa i Administracji UG na temat współpracy pomiędzy uczelniami. Educated at a French Jesuit School, an English public school and at the universities of Aberdeen and Cambridge, Professor Carby-Hall is Director of International Legal Research in the Centre for Legislative Studies at the University of Hull; the Honorary Consul at the Consulate of the Republic of Poland and its Branch for Scientific and Educational Co-Operation and a high ranking officer in the Royal Navy Reserve. For his international work he holds four State Orders, three from Polish Presidents, namely the Knight, Officer and Commander of the Cross grades of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and one from Her Majesty the Queen, namely the Officer grade of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Having served in the RAF for three years, the Royal Artillery for ten years and now the Royal Naval Reserve since 1968 he holds numerous campaign medals and the Royal Naval Reserve Decoration (RD). His academic qualifications include a Master of Arts (MA) degree in languages (French and Italian), a Bachelor of Laws, (LLB), a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) and a Doctor of Laws honoris causa. (LLD h.c.) He is also qualified as an advocate. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French, Greek and Italian a publishes in those languages. His publications, some of which have been translated into eight languages, include books, monographs, chapters in books, articles, entries in an encyclopaedia, commentaries, interviews, keynote speeches and editorials. He is legal adviser to international organisations and governments and often acts as expert witness for the prosecution. He is a visiting professor, honorary professor and research professor in numerous universities and was editor and deputy editor of two prestigious British law journals for 31 and 10 years respectively. He is also honorary patron of two national associations.
