Criminology and Criminal Justice, the payable studies in English, included in the PROgram of Development of the University of Gdansk (PROgram Rozwoju Uniwersytetu Gdanskiego), will deepen your knowledge related
to deviant behavior, including crime in the first place. We will focus on the causes of crime, their phenomenology, as well as methods of combating pathologies. We will introduce you to issues related to the determinants of crime and knowledge covering the organization of the criminal justice system.

Recruitment procedures for a given field of study in full-time studies take into consideration the best grade in the appropriate subject in a candidate’s high-school diploma (exam). In the event of there being  no such grade, condiseration will be given to the grade given on the candidate’s school-leaving certificate, multiplied by a factor of 0.6, and then by the factor prescribed for the subject within the given field of studies.

ADVANTAGES

  • Innovative. The first Criminology studies in English conducted
    in Poland (since 2013), which means that we already have extensive experience, which allows us to constantly improve our offer. Specialised. The lectures are taught by Polish and foreign researchers from various fields. Learning takes place under the supervision of practitioners from all areas of the justice system, such as administrators, judges, attorneys, forensic experts, prosecutors, mediators, physicians and psychologists.
  • General. Over thirty specialised laboratories are available for our students, including ballistics laboratories, Experimental Research Laboratory with one-way mirrors and recording equipment, Laboratory of Psycho-Neurophysiological Research, Laboratory of Psychological Diagnosis Methods, Polygraph workshop with modern polygraph as well as indoor shooting range. The study program provides for the student to complete apprenticeships during the fourth semester. Place of internship: Prison Service, Judiciary, Prosecutor’s Office, Police, Customs Service, Border Guard.
  • Universal. Five faculties are involved in the programme’s teaching – the Faculty of Law and Administration, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. It gives our students an ability to expand their horizons and look at the phenomenon of crime from different perspectives.
  • Global. The lectures present problems in comparative contexts and take into account the existing achievements and ongoing activities of organisations and institutions of pan-European and international reach. It gives an opportunity to concentrate not only on the Polish system but also on solutions used in other countries. It means that our students are able to start a career in Poland, as well as abroad.
